CHITWAN, March 7: Police recovered the body of a lieutenant colonel of Nepal Army (NA), who had gone missing in the Trishuli River when a military jeep that was boarded by three army personnel fell into the river near Chumlingtar of Darechowk along the Prithvi Highway, Saturday morning. [break]
Nepal Television reported that the body of Shankar Lamichhane, the chief of NA´s Butwal-based Ranasardul Batallion, was found at 5 pm. Col Lamichhane was heading to Kathmandu when the accident took place.
Two others -- Narayan Poudel, driver of the BOLERO jeep bearing the registration number Ba 1 Jha 5181, and Head Constable of Nepal Army Mahendra Benju were injured in the accident. They are currently undergoing treatment in Bharatpur, Chitwan.
