Boat capsize death toll reaches 4

GARUDA, Aug 26: The death toll of Saturday´s boat capsize in the Bagmati River in Rautahat has reached four with the police recovering one more dead body on Sunday. The body of Pratima Patel (13) was found 4 kilometers south of the river where the accident took place.



Among the three dozen missing, identities of five persons -- Ashraf Ansari, Mehrun Khatun (10), Shabnam Khatun (5), Roshani Khatun (3) and Asha Patel of Laxmipur -- have been confirmed by their families. [break]Among the survivors, Salamun Khatun (45) and Raushan Khatun (52) are said to be in critical condition.



Meanwhile, the government has provided Rs 15,000 in relief to the families of the deceased. Chief District Officer of Rautahat Shiva Hari Upadhyaya handed over the relief amount to the families of victims in Laxmipur.



"The families of the deceased will receive Rs 40,000 each. Remaining Rs 25,000 will be handed over to them within 10 days," said Upadhyaya. He also informed that the government will also provide free treatment to the injured.



According to Thule Rai, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in Rautahat, they will continue the search for the missing.
