Kathmandu restricted Region No 2 (Birgunj) to 33/8 in the allotted 20 overs and surpassed the total in 12th over to register an emphatic 9-wicket victory.[break]
Birgunj, electing to bat first, could not put up a good performance. Manisha Chaulagain was top-scorer in the side with seven runs under her belt. Kathmandu gave away 12 extras, which helped Birgunj cross the mark of 30 runs.
Karuna Bhandari and woman of the match Shraddha Aryal took two wickets each for Kathmandu.
In reply, Shilu Rijal scored unbeaten 12 runs and Sarita Magar struck unbeaten 15 runs to pull an easy victory in 6.5 overs.
Earlier, Bhairahawa successfully chased 103-run target in 19.2 overs for a seven-wicket victory.
Janakpur put up 102 runs in allotted 20 overs losing six wickets as Usha Bhujel scored unbeaten 24 and Shova Ale unbeaten 19 runs. Kriti Mandal added 16 runs for Janakpur while Bhairahawa gave away 32 runs in extra. Indu Verma took two wickets for Bhairahawa.
In the run-chase, Aksha Gurung scored unbeaten 32 to take Bhairahawa home with four balls to spare. Woman of the match Verma scored 25 while Khina Thapa struck 14 runs. Janakpur gave away 23 runs in extras.
Winners Kathmandu and Bhairahawa, both in the group ´A´ of the tournament, have two points each in the points table. However, Kathmandu are on top with superior net run rate.
In the next battle within the group, Kathmandu and Bhairahawa will lock their horns on Wednesday while Birgunj will take on Janakpur at the Pulchowk Ground.
