Mahesh Basnet has threatened to instruct YAN cadres to fabricate a molestation case against you. What is your take?
Basnet has lost his senses after I lodged a complaint against Parshuram Basnet at the district police office and he has targeted me and the FNJ Morang district chapter. He has said in public that he wants to exact revenge on me by fabricating a case.
Why do you think he has targeted you?
We journalists have launched a movement against Parshuram Basnet, who masterminded the attack on journalist Khilanath Dhakal, and assailants Manoj Rai and Rohit Koirala. As chairman of the FNJ Morang chapter, I am leading the movement. So he has attempted to threaten us and demoralize those leading the campaign against their hooliganism and all media persons protesting the attack.
How will you defend yourself if such a conspiracy is hatched against you?
We journalists have already held some discussions on this matter. We are mulling filing a defamation case if a fabricated molestation case is brought. We will move ahead after consulting our lawyers.
How does the FNJ chapter in your district plan to give continuity to protests against the attack?
We are coming up with protest programs for the next phase. At present, we are receiving feedback from FNJ members. We are also looking forward to FNJ´s central committee decision in this connection. We will announce the new protest programs most probably by tomorrow [Sunday].
