Bishwanath was abducted by two persons, who came in a red vehicle, from the quarters of the Central Rural Development Bank at Gajuri on May 23, according to his brother Udayanath. [break]
The family is worried as the government has shown no urgency even three weeks after abduction. "We raised him with much difficulty. Now that he has started earning he has met this fate," his 61-year-old mother Lilawati said and slammed the government for not taking any initiatives to free him.
"My grandchildren (a girl and a boy) ask me when their father would return," she added. The bank manager would come to his home in Ghansikuwa-3, Tanahun every Friday and had met the family even two days before his abduction. “I have lost hope that he would ever return home now," she said.
The family said that he has been abducted with some important bank documents. Udayanath revealed that a group claiming itself to be Democratic Security Force had called the following day to own up the abduction. The fact that no such organization by the name exists has made this abduction episode more mysterious.
The call had come from Bishwanath´s cellphone (9845041769) and information from the telecom company revealed that the call was made from Matsegaun, Balambu in Kathmandu.
“They had demanded Rs 600,000 in ransom but we couldn´t understand the place of delivery due to disturbances in the signal,” Udayanath said. The family has complained to the district administration in Dhading and Tanahun districts but to no avail.
Dhading Police had kept deputy manager Bishnu Pokharel and Bal Bahadur Dhital under observation but has failed to dig further into the incident.
The family suspected that Bishwanath may have also been abducted as he was a member of Unity Life Insurance.
