Army panel to probe rhino deaths

KATHMANDU, June 13: Nepal Army has constituted a four-member court of inquiry to investigate into the recent poaching of endangered one-horned rhinos in the Chitwan National Park.



According to reports, as many as eight endangered Asiatic rhinos have died as a result of increased poaching activities in the last two months alone, raising security concerns in the national park. Nepal Army is responsible for the security of the park, the home to many endangered flora and fauna.



Brigadier General Yagya Bikram Rana has been designated as the head of the inquiry committee, a statement from the army said on Sunday.
