Another 'kidnap' row

KATHMANDU, July 6: Police filed a case against Dawa Sherpa (40) on Monday, accusing him of attempting to kidnap children in Gongabu.



Sherpa was thrashed by locals after he was spotted with two children in the third floor of a private house on Sunday. Later police rescued him and took to Teaching Hospital.



Locals demonstrated in Gongabu till late evening on Monday. Five policemen were injured in clash with the locals.



Dawa has identified himself as a trekking guide but has not yet clarified why he had reached the private house in Gongabu, police said.
