Gurung returned Nepal on Tuesday and said that the contract was terminated on the basis of mutual understanding. “We (club and Gurung) mutually agreed to end the contract and I´ll not return Shillong,” said Gurung from Kakarvitta in a telephonic conversation with Republica.
Gurung revealed that the club wanted to replace him as he returned Shillong after playing AFC Challenge Cup in Kathmandu and that inspired him to end the contract with the club. “I was in Nepal for almost a month for the Challenge Cup and the club was preparing for second division league. When I reached there, they talked about my replacement in the team citing my injury. I then agreed to leave the club,” said Gurung.
Gurung said that some I-League clubs are interested in him but things are yet to fall into place. “Two clubs have shown their interest but it will take time for the transfer window to open,” said Gurung. “I wish to continue in the I-League,” he added.
He is undecided about joining Nepali clubs. “I´ll take rest for a few days and think about the possibility of joining a Nepali Club. I´ve not talked to any Nepali Club until today (Tuesday),” said Gurung.
Gurung had left New Road Team (NRT) to join Shillong Lajong in 2009.
