All in vain

Took a step outside,

But then I closed my eyes.

I didn’t have the strength to see;

The pain right in front of me.

So I went inside

And pretended that everything was fine;

Like the flowers weren’t fading,

And the Earth wasn’t degrading.

And so I looked away,

From the black smoke coming in my way;

The world inside was calm and bright;

Global warming didn’t bring in a fright.

Full of warmth I fell asleep:

Lived in a dream that etched so deep.

After years I was finally awake,

From my world but it was a mistake.

I couldn’t find the wind; the sun; or the rain;

I had indeed lived a life but all in vain.
