Adikavi Bhanubhakta Award to Sharma

KATHMANDU, July 14: Noted literary figure Taranath Sharma has been felicitated with the Adikavi Bhanubhakta Award.



Prominent litterateur Madan Mani Dixit conferred the Award on Sharma at a function organized in Lekhnath Sadan on Wednesday to mark the 198th birth anniversary of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya. [break]



Instituted by the Nepali Education Council, the award carries a purse of Rs. 111,111.



Letter of appreciation and Bhanubhakta’s cap were offered to outstanding literary figure Sharma for his remarkable contribution to the promotion of Nepali language and literature by scripting around 100 literary books.



The Council, established in 2008 BS, has been continuously marking the birth anniversary of Adikavi Bhanubhakta since 2010 BS and presenting this Award since 2052 BS.



Some 16 eminent literary figures including National Poet Madhav Prasad Ghimire, Prof. Yadunath Khanal, Angurbaba Joshi, Madan Mani Dixit, Dharma raj Thapa and Rajeswor Devkota have already received this Award.



The felicitated personality Sharma said the Adikavi had unified all Nepali people through the means of language, literature and culture.
