According to the Metropolitan Police Range (MPR), Hanumandhoka, Suman Shrestha, 26, of Mahadevsthan Village Development Committee (VDC), has admitted to raping the girl. “He told us that he raped the girl in drunken stupor,” said DSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh of MPR. [break]
Suman, who is currently in judicial custody, will be presented in the court after a week.
The five-year-old girl was raped by Shrestha some three weeks ago. Her mother Mana said that her daughter´s private parts have festered badly. She said that Shrestha, the accused, was an acquaintance and leaves nearby her rented room.
Doctors at Kanti Children Hospital, where she underwent surgery, inserted a tube inside her private parts to prevent further infection.
Doctors said the victim is traumatized and that the trauma might last throughout her life.
"She is so much terrified that I cannot leave her alone for single minute," complained Mana.
