A youth uses Facebook to support poor kids

GULMI, July 20: When most of us use Facebook to connect and chat with friends and relatives, a youth from Ruru VDC of Gulmi has been using the famous social networking site for a philanthropic cause.



Sundar Kasaju has created a Facebook page titled ´Ruru Network´ to crowdsource fund to support the education of children from a poor family background. The donation collected from the webpage is being spend to educate such children. [break]



Within the last six months , Rs 1,64,000 has been collected from donors across the world and the money is being used in educating 27 students of Ruru Primary School, informed Kasaju.



“Children from well-off families go to boarding schools, but the poor ones are left behind. This campaign is aimed at educating these children,” he added.

“On Thursday alone, Saroj Joshi, who is currently in the United State of America , donated Rs 14,000 for the children,” he added. The webpage was launched in 2010.

According to Kasaju, he has been buying educational materials like books, copies, and bags for the students at the primary level, and hopes to extend the services up to class five in the coming days.



Appreciating Kasaju´s effort, school principal Padam Thapa said that his endeavour has brightened the future of the students.
