600 homosexuals in Kanchanpur

KANCHANPUR, May 16: According to data collected by an organization, Prashansha Samuha, there are more than 600 homosexuals in Kanchanpur district alone. The homosexuals do not want to be made public because of fear of stigma and neglected by the society, said chairman of the Samuha Amba Dutta Bhatta.



Although homosexuals are those who are attracted to same sex, third gender people as wrongly categorized as homosexuals in many studies, the organization said. Although the homosexual population is low in rural areas, the number is around 400 in the urban areas of the district. Gay population exceeds lesbian population.
