“We did not attend Sunday´s meeting. It was symbolic protest against the ministerial appointments from our party,” said one of the four leaders on condition of anonymity.

The leaders have been protesting the appointment of Sharat Singh Bhandari as defense minister stating that the latter has already served as minister in previous governments.

Despite objections from the central leaders, MPRF-D Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar had nominated Bhandari for the post.

A few days ago, MPRF-D central member Dr Tilak Rawal had warned of strong steps stating the party leadership had neglected mid-western region and far western region while making ministerial nominations from the party.

Meanwhile, UDMF and various Tharu organizations have agreed to form a panel to make recommendations on bill on inclusion. A meeting of UDMF and Tharu organizations held on Sunday evening at Singha Durbar decided to form a panel headed by Laxman Lal Karna, co-chairman of Sadbhawana Party, a constituent party of UDMF.

According to the leaders, the Tharu organizations will appoint members of the panel within a day or two.  “The panel has been formed to make recommendations on the bill on inclusion,” said Karna.
