Similarly, people have been terrorized after various suspicious looking objects have been found placed at different locations. The banda-enforcers have vandalized a vehicle of the Nagarik daily near the Bhatbhateni Supertmarket at local Koteshwar. The vehicle was transporting newspapers.

Police has adopted special alert to make the general strike ineffective and normalize the situation, said police spokesman Senior Superintendent Ganesh KC. He said arrangements have been made for providing security to vehicles.

SSP KC also said that the people involved in torching and vandalizing vehicles in the wee hours this morning at Koteshwar and Bhaktapur have been arrested. He said the security would be beefed up in the Kathmandu Valley towards the afternoon.

Shops in different streets, squares and lanes in Kathmandu are open and private vehicles are operating smoothly since the morning.
