BIRGUNJ, April 20: Agitating locals at Bajani village along the Pathlaiya-Birgunj highway torched three vehicles after a tripper truck ran over a child in the village on Monday afternoon. A local Raju Lama was shot dead as police opened fire to control the violent mob. The deceased child is 12-year old Sujit Pudasaini, who died on the spot at about 5:30 pm. A fire engine that came to douse the fire had returned shortly after agitating locals attacked it with stones. Police used five rounds of tear gas cells and opened fire to bring the situation under control.
