3 HR bodies to launch joint probe on Pyutar incident

KATHMANDU, March 30: Three national human rights bodies decided on Monday to launch a joint investigation into forced feeding of human excreta to an elderly woman by a school principal, at Pyutar of Lalitpur district 10 days ago.



A statement issued by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) said it is going to launch the investigation along with National Women´s Commission and National Dalit Commission.



Bimala Lama, the principal of Gadibhanjyang Primary School at Pyutar in Lalitpur, had forcefully fed human excreta to Kalli Kumari Bishwakarma accusing her of being a witch.



The three commissions have also decided to take initiatives to get the perpetrator of the "heinous crime" punished. NHRC has also decided to summon the chief district officer and the chief police officer of Lalitpur district to get the details of the incident.
