29 cooperatives scrap in Kailali

KAILALI, July 15: Out of the 475 cooperatives registered so far in Kailali district, 29 have been scrapped.



According to the Cooperatives Training and Division Office, Dhangadhi, most of the scrapped cooperatives are Saving and Credit Cooperatives and based in rural areas. [break]



Information Officer at the Cooperatives Office, Imanath Kandel, said that the cooperatives were scrapped as they did not carry out works as per the Cooperatives Act.The cooperatives were scrapped after they failed to hold general assemblies and submit reports, it is learnt.



Five cooperatives are scrapped in Tikapur Municipality, four in Joshipur VDC, two in Pratappur VDC, five in Baliya VDC and 13 in other VDCs.

According to the Office, 28 fair price shops are in operation in the district.
