24 injured in Ilam bus accident

ILAM, Aug 19: Twenty-four passengers were injured in a bus accident on the Mechi Highway in Ilam on Wednesday morning. The bus (Me 1 Kha 872) bound for Jhapa from Taplejung met with the accident at Godak-2 of Ilam at around 3:40 a.m.



Puran Rai, 18, of Sankhuwasabha and Biren Limbu, 24, of Thinglavu-4, Taplejung are in critical condition and undergoing treatment in Dharan, police said. Others are being treated at Ilam District Hospital.



Ten passengers who were slightly injured in the accident have returned home after treatment.



Police have taken the bus driver Rana Bahadur Rai of Anarmani-3, Jhapa, under control.
