Minister for Agricultural Development Haribol Gajurel inaugurated the four-day event which is being organized by Floriculture Association of Nepal (FAN). Speaking at the program, Gajurel said rise in production and demand for flowers shows that floriculture industry is flourishing. "Nepali flowers and flower products have great export potentials," he said, adding, "We should explore foreign markets for our floriculture products."Similarly, Dilip Bade, acting president of FAN, said that there are 64 stalls -- six official stalls, three for floriculture contest, four for landscape purpose and remaining 51 for business purpose -- in the expo. "The expo is showcasing different seasonal flowers, decoration flowers, cut flowers and drip flowers as well as seeds, tools, and books as well as other materials related to gardening," he added.
Likewise, there will be a contest among participants of the expo. The contest will be held in 10 categories -- Best Seasonal Flower, Best Decoration, Best Flower, Best Landscape, Best Flower Decoration, Best Stall, Best Cut Flower (Rose), Best Cut Flower (Carnesan), Best Cut Flower (Jarbera) and Best Cut Flower (Gladiolus), according to the organizers.
21st Flora Expo kicks off in Kathmandu
