KATHMANDU, May 11: Police arrested Chiranjivi Dhakal, the president of All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), the student wing of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), from the capital on Friday. Dhakal, an influential leader of the outlawed Chand outfit, is also a politburo member of the party.

Politics is the most powerful divider and unifier in societies of all hues.  It can not only turn people off, but also work wonders in split seconds. Nonetheless, its fallout differs from one society to other. It is largely determined by the degrees of its denizens’ inclination toward the dominant narratives of the times in corresponding countries or societies.

KATHMANDU, Dec 7: The Nepali Congress' student wing, Nepal Students Union, has padlocked the office of the TU vice-chancellor and other senior officials at Kirtipur alleging massive financial irregularities in the issuance of permission to run Bachelor's in Computer Applications (BCA) courses to 116 private colleges. The permissions were granted in September.
