KATHMANDU, May 6: The Bagmati Province Government, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Cooperatives, Nepal Tamang Ghedung, Federal Working Committee and Newa Dey Daboo, Central Committee jointly organized the launch of Provincial Government Official Language Act, 2080 BS and Language Day program. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was the chief guest of the event. On the occasion, a program including a rally was held at Basantapur.

MAKAWANPUR, May 5: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Cooperative of Bagmati Province, Shailendra Man Bajracharya, has said that the province government would use the Newari and Tamang languages as the official languages.

My heart aches when I see more and more Newari speaking parents not teaching their children Newari.

Chief Minister of Gandaki State, Prithvi Subba Gurung said Nepal's diverse ethnic and cultural identities remain as its invaluable property.

One of the growing and evident concerns among the Newar community is that many youngsters nowadays have a hard time understanding, speaking and especially writing Newari language. Some understand the language but are unable to make a proper two-way conversation. And even those who do speak Newari, they do not know how to write the language.

KATHMANDU, Dec 3: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that support and cooperation of all was essential for the protection and promotion of the Newa culture, which remains as the unique cultural identity of Kathmandu valley.

Newari Bhoj organized by Fairfield Marriott was filled with music, culture, cuisine and a lot of delightful faces. The food served at the Bhoj was mouth-watering. The main idea behind the event was to promote Newari feasting culture and its grandiose heritage.
