Life starts from the womb of a mother and ends with death. Doctors can only prolong life but they cannot stop people from dying. Like birth, death is also one of the eternal realities in this world. People accept the reality of birth easily but ignore the existence of death.

The idea of euthanasia, set out by American philosopher Dan W. Brock, supports the idea of a good death with a dignified exit under some circumstances, such as when a patient is experiencing "irreversible and incurable suffering”.

NEW DELHI, March 9: In a landmark ruling, Supreme Court recognized the right to die with dignity and legalized passive euthanasia on Friday. A Constitution bench comprising Chief Justice of India Dipak Kumar Misra, Justice AK Sikri, Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Ashok Bhushan, passed the verdict on the plea to allow "living will" that will authorize the withdrawal of all life support systems if in the opinion of the doctors he has reached an irreversible stage of terminal illness.

KATHMANDU, Feb 3: The Supreme Court (SC) is to summon experts concerned to discuss whether euthanasia (voluntary death) should be allowed or not.
