MANANG, April 23: Four tourists visiting the district of Manang were rescued after they were taken ill due to altitude sickness in Larke Pass.

GALESHWOR (MYAGDI), April 17: Altitude sickness is emerging as a growing concern among visitors in Mustang. The district also known as the district beyond the Himalaya is home to the famous Muktinath Temple which draws a large number of devotees mainly from home and India each year.

POKHARA, April 8: Health check-ups for pilgrims and tourists visiting the Muktinath Temple (3800m), a religious site in Mustang district, have started. Officials have initiated these check-ups due to the increased risk of altitude sickness from rapidly ascending to high altitudes.

POKHARA, March 18: An Indian tourist, who was visiting the religious site of Muktinath in the Himalayan district of Mustang, died of altitude sickness on Sunday.

POKHARA, March 4: An Indian pilgrim visiting the Muktinath temple in Mustang has died of altitude sickness. Bhupendra Bhai Patel, 57, of  Gujarat, India, succumbed to altitude sickness on Monday morning, as confirmed by the police.

SARLAHI, Oct 11: A couple originally hailing from Pattharkot of Lalbandi Municipality-12 in Sarlahi district died after suffering from altitude sickness while returning from Meme Pokhari of Lamjung district.

GORKHA, Sept 30: A foreign tourist died of high altitude sickness in course of trekking to Manaslu mountain in Samagaon of Chumunubri rural municipality-1. The incident took place on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 19: An Indian pilgrim to the Lake Manasarovar died of altitude sickness.

POKHARA, May 16: Last Thursday, high altitude sickness hit an Italian national Marco Roccufrancufco Morelia and two Nepali guides at Sairbung peak of Mustang. Although the authorities concerned were aware of their plight, a rescue helicopter did not reach to rescue them on time. When the helicopter arrived at the spot next day, Morelia, 68, had already succumbed to the sickness. Although police blamed bad weather for delaying the rescue, specific procedures that delay the rescue cannot be overlooked.

POKHARA, May 11: A 68-year-old Italian trekker has died from high altitude sickness at 6,346 meter Saribung peak. Two guides in the team have fallen sick.
