KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Film hall operators and film producers are set to share equal profit throughout the film screening period in cinema halls.

Nepal Motion Picture Association (NMPA) has withdrawn its decision to close cinema halls across the country on September 12, Monday. An agreement was reached not to close down the cinema halls after discussions with the Nepal Film Producers Association (NFPA) on Friday.

Nepal Motion Picture Association in association with Digital Cinema Nepal, and the UN Development Programme jointly launched screenings of an UN-backed global campaign film, on Friday. The Nepali version of the short feature – Don’t Choose Extinction – starring Frankie the dinosaur, will be screened in more than 100 QFX and big cinema halls, across the country, over the next two weeks.

The government has not taken any decision to reopen the cinema halls which have been closed for the past nine months. However, the cinema halls have come into operation after the Nepal Motion Picture Association (NMPA), decided to make the halls operational from today.
