Following Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine's announcement Monday (June 17) that he was undergoing treatment for throat cancer, his bandmate, Megadeth co-founder and bassist David Ellefson, detailed the band's decision to cancel shows following the singer's diagnosis.

Vocalist and guitarist of the band Megadeth, Dave Mustaine, said in a Facebook post that he has been diagnosed with throat cancer.

Megadeth bassist David Ellefson was there when Nikki Sixx was declared clinically dead from a drug overdose before the Motley Crue member was revived by a paramedic after two long minutes back in 1987.

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine apparently wishes he wrote the memorable riff in "The Pink Panther Theme," the 1963 jazz number behind the original Pink Panther film.

Megadeth has been in writing mode for their 16th full-length album for a while now and while it had been suggested the band was targeting a 2019 release, David Ellefson recently said that probably won't happen.

Heavy metal band Megadeth will be the opening act at this year’s Illinois State Fair.
