KATHMANDU, April 21: Kathmandu continues to grapple with severe air pollution, securing its position as the second most polluted city among the top 10 cities in the world.

KATHMANDU, April 9: Air pollution in the Kathmandu Valley has increased following forest fires across the country for the past few days. Based on the Air Quality Index (AQI), Kathmandu has been ranked as the most polluted city globally this afternoon, recording an AQI of 200.

According to Air Visual, an organization based in Switzerland that collects and processes air quality data, Kathmandu ranked seventh out of almost 100 cities in the world in terms of poor air quality and polluted cities on Thursday afternoon. Last week Kathmandu was on the top in the list.

The PM2.5 level in the Valley has been between 75 and 150 μg/m3, which is considered unhealthy
