Super Kabeli Khola 'A' Cascade Hydroelectric Project nears completion in Taplejung

TAPLEJUNG, March 29: The 18.5-meter-long HRT tunnel route of the 12 MW Super Kabelikhola ‘A’ Cascade hydroelectric Project', located in Sirijunga Rural Municipality of Taplejung, has achieved a 'breakthrough'.

Meghnath Dhungana, the project's head, mentioned that 75 percent of the project work has been completed following the 'breakthrough' of the HRT tunnel. The construction of the 1,837-meter-long HRT tunnel commenced on January 9, 2023.

This hydroelectric project will utilize water from the Kabeli River, originating from Kabelikhola 'A' Cascade in Taplejung District's Sirijanga Rural Municipality, specifically in Ward No. 7 Khewang and Ward No. 8 Yamfudin.

The primary promoter of this hydroelectric project is Hiltal Energy Limited. The electricity generated will be channeled to a 132 kV switchyard and linked to the Nepal Electricity Authority's national transmission line at the Amarpur substation in Panchthar district.

The electricity produced will be transmitted to the 132 kV Amarpur substation via an 18 km-long transmission line from the power plant situated in the Khebang-Yamfudin area of the project.
