DHANGADI, April 14: The deadline for the formation of the government in Sudurpaschim Province is ending today.

After the leader of the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Kamal Bahadur Shah resigned from the post of the chief minister, Province Chief Nazir Mia called for the formation of a new government according to Article 168(2) of the Constitution.

Although the deadline for submitting claims to the government ends at 5 PM on Sunday, no claim has been made yet.

With the power dynamics shifting, a new coalition has been agreed upon, aiming to assign the chief ministerial role to the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), which holds sway in Sudurpaschim Province.

However, a dispute over the choice of chief minister within the NUP has caused delays.

The coalition has announced its intention to submit a claim for the Chief Minister's post by Sunday evening.

A provincial assembly member affiliated with the coalition stated that a member of the NUP's provincial assembly will be nominated as chief minister.

NUP founding central member Ramesh BK confirmed on Sunday that Kailash Chaudhary will submit the claim for chief ministership with the support from UML, CPN (Maoist Center), and CPN (Unified Socialist) Party.

He added that the claim will be submitted once NUP Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha arrives in Dhangadhi from Kathmandu.
