NEPSE rises by 15.54 points, daily turnover soars to Rs 5.68 billion

KATHMANDU, May 22: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday climbed 15.54 points to close at 2,131.49 points.

The market opened at 2,115.94 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,109.26 points in the first few minutes. In the next moment, the index followed an upward graph and reached as high as 2,140.01 points in the midway of the trading hours. In the remaining around two hours of trading, the market shed nine points before it closed for the day.   

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also increased by 5.06 points. The daily turnover surged to Rs 5.68 billion from Rs 5.20 billion on Tuesday.

Four out of the 13 groups were the gainers, while hotels and tourism added the highest of 98.34 points to its index. Of the nine losing groups, non-life insurance lost the highest of 66.62 points. 

Among individual companies, 81 were recorded as gainers whereas 161 were the losers.

Nerude Mirmire Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 244.28 million. Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the topmost gainer, while Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 8.05 percent of its market price.
