NEPSE inches up 2.06 points, daily turnover falls to Rs 2.14 billion

KATHMANDU, May 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased marginally by 2.06 points to close at 1,960.81 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,958.75 points and reached the day’s high at 1,970.45 points in the first one and a half hours of trading. The index declined gradually in the second half and hit the day’s minimum of 1,955.26 points before the last 10 minutes of trading. The market recovered around five points in the remaining period before it closed for the day. 

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also increased 1.77 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 2.14 billion from Rs 2.89 billion on Monday. 

Four groups including microfinance, development bank, ‘others’ and mutual fund were the gainers, while microfinance led the group by adding 99.98 points to its index. Of the nine losers, manufacturing and processing lost the highest of 35.61 points.

Among individual companies, 120 were recorded as gainers whereas 114 were the losers.

Pokhara Finance Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 83.22 million. Himalayan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited gained the highest of 9.99 percent of its market price, while Bottlers Nepal (Terai) Limited lost the highest of 6.23 percent of its market value.
