Nepse hits three months high to cross 2,000 points, daily turnover increases to Rs 1.495 billion on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Sept 13: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday gained a notable 39.48 points to close at 2,007.06 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,967.57 points and escalated as high as 1,978.02 points in the first five minutes. The index fell to 1,969.28 points in the next half an hour, which was followed by successive increases for the rest of the trading hours.

Nepal’s stock exchange market had been reeling under the bearish trend for the past few weeks. It was the first time in the past three months that the market crossed 2,000 points.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also increased 7.66 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 1.495 billion from Rs 1.135 billion on Tuesday. 

All the 13 trading groups had their market value increased in the intraday trading. Life insurance escalated 273.45 points, followed by non-life insurance, hotels and tourism, development bank, and manufacturing and processing that registered among the gainers of three-digit points.  

Among individual companies, the market values of 213 companies inclined up, while 11 companies posted losses in their indices.

NIC Asia Bank, with turnover of Rs 79.32 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. With an addition of 10 point percent, Barun Hydropower Co Ltd was the highest gainer. Similarly, Three Star Hydropower Limited lost eight percent in its market value.
