Nepal’s COVID-19 tally rises to 46,257 with 980 new cases in last 24 hours

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: Nepal recorded 980 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours, taking the national COVID-19 case tally to 46,257. 

According to Dr Jageshwar Gautam, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 290 females and 690 males were found to have contracted the virus across the nation in the past 24 hours through 10,382 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests carried out at various labs.

Likewise, 1,814 COVID-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. So far, 28,941 people who had earlier tested positive for the virus have recovered and returned home.

As of Sunday afternoon, there are 17,027 active cases in Nepal. Also, some 4,703 people are staying at various quarantine facilities.

The health ministry has also registered nine more COVID-19 related deaths on Sunday including two females and seven males. With this, the national COVID-19 death toll has reached 289.
