Nepal Army’s Barda Bahadur Battalion bags best battalion award in UNIFIL peace mission

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: The 62nd Shree Barda Bahadur Battalion (Peace Corps) of Nepal Army deployed in the UNIFIL Mission in Lebanon for peacebuilding at the call of the United Nations has succeeded in becoming the best among the peacekeepers deployed from 10 other nations.

In recognition of the outstanding contribution made by the Nepalese Peacekeepers serving in the 62nd Battalion of Shree Barda Bahadur Gana (Peace Corps) in their respective areas of responsibility, UNIFIL Head of Mission/Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col provided token and certificate of appreciation on January 6.

Since its deployment in the mission area, the battalion has been distributing COVID-19 test kits in all the eight municipalities of its area of ​​responsibility. The Battalion is also conducting effective public interest programs such as protection and promotion of historic forts, organizing quality dental services, distributing stationery in schools, conducting public health awareness programs on women's health, maintaining public parks and constructing "Agriculture Ponds and Public Garden".
