KATHMANDU, March 28: Nepal A is set to clash with Ireland A in the first T20 practice match today. The match is scheduled to commence at 1 PM at the TU Cricket Ground. This series will feature three T20 matches and one-day encounters between Nepal ‘A’ and Ireland ‘A’.

Having been defeated by Nepal's senior team in both encounters, Ireland A is gearing up to face Nepal A. The senior Nepali team is departing for India today to participate in the Friendship Cup, featuring a triangular series among Baroda, Nepal, and Gujarat.

The Nepal A team will be led by Binod Bhandari, while Ireland will be captained by Neil Rock. With the ACC Premier Cup and the T20 World Cup on the horizon, this series presents an opportunity for young talents to catch the eye of the selectors and pave their way into the senior squad. It offers a platform for those players who haven't had the chance to represent the senior team to exhibit their skills.

The Nepal ‘A’ T20 squad includes seasoned players like Binod Bhandari, Lokesh Bam, Dev Khanal, Pawan Sarraf, Aarif Sheikh, Bashir Ahmed, among others, who have previously represented the senior team.

This match holds particular significance for fast bowler Kamal Singh Airee, who has returned to the team after recovering from an injury sustained in 2022. Additionally, selectors will be keeping a close watch on the performances of young hitters Arjun Gharti and Narayan Joshi, who have left a notable impact in domestic cricket.

Key players for Ireland ‘A’ include Gareth Delany, Ross Adair, and Stephen Doheny. The second T20 match is scheduled for March 29, followed by the third match on March 31.
