KATHMANDU, June 16: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has said that the COVID-19 infection rate is still on the rise in 14 of the 77 districts despite prohibitory measures enforced to contain the spread of this viral disease.

Spokesperson for the MoHP, Dr Krishna Prasad Paudel said the rate of COVID-19 has been on the rise in recent days in various 14 districts. These districts include Udayapur, Panchthar, Terhathum, Nuwakot, Nawalparasi (East), Rolpa, Humla, Jumla, Rukum West, Dailekh, Doti and Bajura.

The MoHP has urged all people living in these districts to take extra precautions to make sure that the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic does not worsen further. “As many as 43 districts now have less than 500 active cases of COVID-19,” said Paudel, adding that the other remaining districts have seen a gradual decline in the rate of COVID-19 infection.

Currently, the COVID-19 positive rate among those undergoing PCR tests has remained 18.9 percent, according to the MoHP.
