Govt to enforce lock down in particular area if it is found affected by COVID-19

KATHMANDU, March 12: Government on Thursday said that it will enforce lock down in the particular area of the country if it is found affected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Organizing a press meet at the Ministry of Health and Population today, the spokesperson Bikash Devkota informed that the government has planned to lock the pocket area if the virus is reported there. 

"Particular community, settlement, village, local level, district and even province can be declared pocket area.  During the period, import and export of goods will not be allowed except for some emergency items," said Devkota adding that land border points of the country will also be locked down. 

According to him, the government has made the necessary arrangement of integrating equipment and skilled manpower. "If necessary, mobile hospitals will also be mobilized in collaboration with private sectors," he said.

He further informed that the government has made all necessary preparations to manage the situation if an epidemic of coronavirus outbreaks. 

"Teams including health workers have been mobilized in 43 entry points." 

450 suspected have been tested so far. Of them, only one was tested positive for this novel coronavirus, informed Devkota. "At present, 4 Nepalis in Teku and 2 in Patan Hospital have been kept in isolation."

If one comes from a country where COVID-19 has been reported, he has to produce corona free health certificate.
