Fire causes loss worth 10 million in Tokha

KATHMANDU, April 22: A fire that broke out in Tokha area in Kathmandu has caused damage worth Rs 10 million. 

It is said that cooking gas leakage caused the fire in Dharmaraj Dangol's meat shop last night in Tokha Municipality-8, Milan Chowk. According to the Kathmandu Police Range Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sitaram Rijal, the goods of five shops were destroyed as a result of fire. Three empty shutters have also been destroyed by the fire.

According to SP Rijal, the shoe shop operated by Kamala Tamang has borne a loss of Rs 1.6 million, while loss at the fancy shop owned by Muna Thapa is valued around Rs 3.5 million. 

Similarly, there was a loss worth Rs 0.2 million each in the dairy operated by Pradeep Lamsal and a tailor shop operated by Bikas Shrestha. It is said that Rs 2 million worth mobile phones and its accessories were destroyed by the fire in the shop owned by Madhu Neupane and Rs 2.5 million worth loss in the shop owned by Madhu Meupane.

The shutters of the shops of Shyam Shrestha, Tekraj Pokharel and Dhan Bahadur Basnet were burnt down. Police said that the fire was brought to control with the help of Nepal Police personnel, local residents and fire brigades.
