KATHMANDU, May 24: The Nepalese Army (NA) is about to purchase military equipment worth Rs 6 billion for the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission. The Army has completed the final stage of procurement of 26 Armored Personnel Carriers (APC) and weapons worth Rs 6 billion from neighboring China.

KATHMANDU, May 23: The police have submitted an investigation report to the District Government Attorney’s Office, alleging that former deputy prime minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former home minister Bal Krishna Khand, secretary Tek Narayan Pandey (the then home secretary) were involved in the case of swindling money from Nepali citizens promising to send them to the US as fake Bhutanese refugees.

The police report includes statements of the victims as well as middlemen arrested by the police and some bounced cheques and SMS as evidence. KATHMANDU, April 1: The draft bill to amend the Telecommunications Act has removed the provision that Ncell will be owned by the Government of Nepal in 2029. The provision in sub-section 1 of section 25 of the Act has been deleted in the draft bill. Section 25 of the existing Act mentions the period and renewal of the permit. In sub-section 1 of the same section, the period of the permit is said to be 25 years at most.
