Adanchuli Municipality in Humala suspends all services for a week

SIMKOT, May 17: Adanchuli Rural Municipality of Humla district has decided to suspend all its services for a week following a sharp rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. 

Vice Chairperson of the Rural Municipality, Saumati Eidi, said that all works and services of Adanchuli Rural Municipality have been shut down after 50 percent among those tested recently were diagnosed with COVID-19. 

An all-party meeting of the Rural Municipality held on Sunday decided to suspend all the services being provided by the Rural Municipality services effective from Sunday itself. 

Earlier, the Rural Municipality had decided to seal off its area since last Saturday after seven persons who underwent Antigen test were diagnosed with the coronavirus infection. 

The meeting also decided to shut down the internet services being provided at the office of the Municipality and its Ward Offices from May 17 to 23. The decision was made to avoid high turn up of internet users at the offices in view of heightened risk of coronavirus outbreak. 

Vice Chairperson Eidi informed that people can travel from one village to another village only at the recommendation of Ward Chairpersons during the lockdown. “All hotels and shops operated within the rural municipality have been completely shut down up to May 23,” he said. “All development works except for the construction works being carried out with the use of machines have also been closed during the period.” 

Meanwhile, a decision was made to seal off Ward Number 7 of the Simkot Rural Municipality from Sunday in view of the rise in the number of  COVID-19 cases. Ward Chairperson Raj Bahadur Shahi said that the they have sealed off its area during the period of prohibitory order enforced by the District Administration Office, Humla.
