NC establishment gains ground in Rolpa

ROLPA, Feb 18: The establishment faction of the Nepali Congress (NC) has won party’s district convention in Rolpa.


Amir Singh Pun Magar, who represents the NC's establishment faction in the district, has defeated his close contender Man Bahadur Khatri.

Magar got 239 votes while Khatri from the Deuba faction got only 192 votes.

Pun, who is also a member of the Legislature-Parliament, got 129 votes from Constituency-1 and 110 votes from Constituency-2. Pun has defeated his rival by a margin of 47 votes while 10 votes were declared invalid, Election Officer Jaya Bahadur Khatri told Republica Online.

Similarly, Sher Bahadur Mahara from the establishment faction was elected Secretary. Mahara got 215 votes. He secured 131 votes from Constituency-1 and 84 from Constituency-2. His close rival from the Deuba faction Dipak Shrestha got 199 votes.

Khadga Bahadur Khatri from the establishment was elected Treasurer. Khadga Bahadur got 233 votes--124 votes from Constituency-1 and 109 votes from Constituency-2. His close rival got 178 votes, Election Officer Khatri told Republica Online.

Similarly, Kishor Kumar Acharya, Mahendra Pun Magar, Durga Prasad Adhikari, Mohan Bikram Bhandari, Ganesh Bahadur Gharti Magar, Indra Bahadur BK, Kabita Upadhyaya, Mishri Kumari Hamal, Sagar Babu Pun Magar were elected members of NC Rolpa District Committee.
