A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday decided to form the high-level committee under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructures and Transportation Bijay Kumar Gachhadar.
“The high-level committee will identify and give priority to infrastructural projects and recommend the government for implementing the projects.
Similarly, the committee will also be responsible for ensuring inter-ministerial coordination required to release necessary budget for the projects and complete them on time,” said Minister for Information and Communication Sherdhan Rai, who is also the spokesperson of the government.
He informed that the committee comprises of Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, Minister for Energy Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Minister for Information Rai, Vice-President of the National Planning Commission Yubaraj Khatiwada, Secretary of Finance Ministry Lok Darsan Regmi and a representative from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM).
Rai said that the meeting has entrusted the committee with a responsibility to submit its report to the OPMCM about its activities and progress once a week.
Similarly, the meeting also decided to endorse a two-year improvement plan-2072. “The plan has been formulated and endorsed in spirit of the new constitution to expedite process of financial and social reforms and improve good governance,” said Minister Rai.
The cabinet meeting has approved grant assistances from Japan and China on Thursday.
A meeting of cabinet held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar decided to accept Rs 33 billion to be provided by Japan for earthquake victims and Rs 14 billion from China for upgrading the Araniko Highway.
