KATHMANDU, Oct 15: The CPN-UML has stressed on the need to move ahead together with the opposition party Nepali Congress to deal with the national issues.

The UML Standing Committee meeting held at the UML Parliamentary Party office at Singha Durbar in the Capital today took a decision in this effect.

However, the meeting handed over the responsibility to Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli to hold consultations on the matter.

After the meeting, UML Standing Committee member Surendra Pandey said that UML has pointed out the need to move ahead together with the NC to sort out the current national problems, notwithstanding NC's move to breach the "gentlemen's agreement" struck earlier, wherein the UML was allowed to lead the new government.

The meeting has assigned the responsibility of forging coordination in course of the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker to the chair Oli.

The Prime Minister and party chair Oli briefed the meeting about the latest political updates. Similarly, the meeting has urged the government to prioritize the supply management.

It is informed that the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa was scheduled to visit India to resolve the ongoing supply problem caused by undeclared border blockade imposed by the Indian side.

DPM Thapa is the coordinator of the dialogue team to hold discussion with the Indian side in this connection. The meeting has expressed gratitude to the people as they were showing tolerance during the present fuel crisis as well.

Similarly, the meeting held discussions on the issues of expanding the Council of Ministers, however, it is yet to be materialized.

Leader Pandey said that the meeting stressed on the process and modality of finalizing the name for possible Ministers to be sent from the party in the incumbent government.

The meeting has congratulated and expressed best wishes the newly elected Prime Minister Oli and other Ministers for their successful tenure. RSS
