Malls, shopping complexes pull shoppers with attractive discounts

KATHMANDU, Sept 29: With Dashain and Tihar at our doorsteps, malls and shopping complexes in Kathmandu Valley are luring customers by offering attractive discounts and gifts. [break]



Major shopping destinations in the Valley like City Center, United World Trade Center (UWTC), CTC Mall, KL Tower, Civil Mall and Kathmandu Mall, among others, have introduced special offers and packages targeting the festive season.



Civil Mall has launched ´Tata Indica V2 Civil Mall Dashain Tihar Mahostav 2013´ through which customers buying goods worth more than Rs 1,000 can plenty of daily prizes along with cash. The major attraction of the campaign is ´Touch and Win a Car´ under which an individual continuously touching the allotted car for the longest period will receive a Tata Indica V2. Moreover, customers can also win various gifts like round trip ticket to Dubai, diamond necklace, TV sets, refrigerators and washing machines among others. The campaign will continue till Tihar.



Similarly, UWTC is all set to launch ´Dashain Maha Shopping Mela´ from October 2. Sandeep Hirachhan, managing director of the UWTC, said shops at UWTC will offer a minimum of 50 percent discount on apparels during the five-day event. “Customers will also get attractive discounts on purchase of other products as well,” he added.



Shops at City Center, Kamalpokhari are offering discounts of up to 50 percent on different items. Rajesh Lamichhane, chief general manager of City Center, said people buying goods worth more than Rs 1,000 will get a coupon through which they can win different electrical appliances and motorbikes as bumper prize.

New malls like CTC Mall at Sundhara and Chabahil-based KL Tower are also not lagging behind when it comes to launching festive offers. CTC Mall has announced ´CTC Mall Dashain Shopping Offer´ under which it s offering a motorbike everyday during the 10-day event. Nishant Shrestha, chief consultant at CTC Mall, said customers buying goods worth Rs 1,000 will get a coupon through which they can participate in the daily luck draw. The mall is also offering free tickets to Hong Kong, Malaysia and Doha through lucky draw to be conducted on the 10th day. The offer starts on October 2 and will continue till October 11.



Shops at KL Tower are offering discounts of up to 30 percent on apparels. Moreover, the shopping center has been running “Dashain Tihar Bazar´ from September 28 in a bid to provide customers apparels and other commodities under one roof at a discounted price.

Other prominent shopping destinations like The Kathmandu Mall, People´s Plaza and Bhat-Bhateni Super Market have also announced discounts and lucrative offers during the festive season.



Owners of malls said festive offers not only boost their sales but also play a great role in position of their brand image. “Malls often launch attractive offers during major festivals to strengthen their brand presence,” Lamichhane of City Center said.
