KATHMANDU, May 29: Surendra Raj Pandey, the leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) Gandaki Province Parliamentary Party, has been appointed as the chief minister (CM) of Gandaki Province.
Province Chief Dilliraj Bhatta appointed Pandey as the CM in accordance with Article 168 (3) of the constitution on Wednesday.
The Supreme Court overruled the vote of confidence taken by outgoing CM Khagaraj Adhikari and issued a mandate to appoint Pandey as the CM.
Accordingly, post-judgment, a letter reached the Province Chief’s office of Gandaki province on Wednesday.
On Monday, the Supreme Court ordered NC’s Surendra Raj Pandey to be appointed as the CM within 48 hours.
