CHITWAN, April 12: Eleven bridges along the Narayanghat-Mugling road section have come into operation. Except for Khare, Namche, Kalikhola, and Tuinkhola bridges near Mugling bazar, the other bridges have been opened for public use.

Among the four bridges currently under construction, work on three is in progress. Krishna Acharya, the engineer overseeing the western section of the Nagdhunga-Mugling road project (Narayanghat-Mugling), stated that construction is ongoing for the access roads of the bridges at Namche, Kalikhola, and Kharekhola.

Engineer Acharya further mentioned that both the Namche and Kalikhola bridges are expected to be operational by mid-July. However, the construction of the access road for the Khare Khola bridge is taking longer due to the necessity of raising a high wall. Additionally, he said that 65 percent of the construction work for the Tuinkhola bridge has been completed.

"The foundation work for the Tuinkhola bridge has been successfully completed as part of the ongoing construction process," said Engineer Acharya.

He added that both the Tuinkhola and Khare Khola bridges are slated for completion by mid-November. In total, there are 19 bridges along this stretch of road, with contracts for the construction of 15 bridges signed on March 23, 2020.

The construction of these bridges has been supported by the World Bank, initiated alongside the widening of the road from 9 to 11 meters.
