KATHMANDU, May 16: Independent candidate for the post of mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balendra Shah 'Balen' has maintained his lead in the ongoing vote counting. According to the latest details, he has received 6,486 votes.

TAPLEGUNJ, May 16: Dambar Hangam from the Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected the chairman of Meringden Rural Municipality in Taplejung district. He secured 2,869 votes to win the election to the post while his nearest rival Kedar Jung Chongwang of CPN-UML got 2,770 votes.

CHITAWAN, MAY 15: The mayoral candidate of the ruling five-party alliance in Bharatpur Metropolitan City Renu Dahal is leading her nearest rival Bijaya Subedi of CPN-UML by 14 votes as a total of 6477 votes are counted so far.

KATHMANDU, May 15: The Election Commission (EC) has urged the bodies concerned not to blow a minor human error during the counting of votes out of proportion as an issue of dispute.

KAILALI, May 15: The counting of votes has concluded in five of the 88 local bodies of Sudurpaschim Province so far. Of the five local bodies, Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML emerged victorious in two local units each, while the CPN (Maoist Center) won in one local unit.
