POKHARA, June 19: The no-vehicle zone policy that was introduced in Lakeside, Pokhara, has been removed. The government’s decision to designate the area as a vehicle free zone was subject to much criticism.
BAJURA, April 29: Rajali, the part of Badimalika-3 in Bajura district (Province 7) is to be declared the zone free from chhaugoth (makeshift hut meant for the shelter of menstruating women and new mothers).
BHIMDUTTANAGAR, Mar 26: With the enforcement of the government's nationwide policy of banning the motor vehicles completing 20 years of operation, 325 such vehicles have been sent off the roads in Mahakali Zone.
Seven years back, Lakeside, the biggest tourist hub in Pokhara, was declared a ‘no-vehicle zone’ on Friday afternoons. The ban on vehicles was implemented from Hallan Chowk to Fishtail Gate which is about a 3-km stretch of Lakeside. However, the campaign was dropped after seven months as the locals refused to comply.

The District Administration Office, Nuwakot has declared Dhikure Bazaar and its adjoining areas in the Likhu rural municipality-1 of Nuwakot as prohibited zone. Issuing a public notice, the Nuwakot DAO has declared the area from Dhikure Bazaar to Chaughada in the east, Barahafedidanda in the west, Majhpani in the north and Chaughuda in the south as per the Local Administration Act, Clause 6 (7).

PARIS: City officials have designated part of a Paris public park, the Bois de Vincennes, as a clothing-optional zone. Those taking advantage of the experimental space are expected to abide by a displayed charter of “good behavior,” and exhibitionism and voyeurism are strictly prohibited. SAPTARI, Sept 1: Dhiwaga village in Saptari would be popularly called a ‘food zone’ due to its abundant production of food grains. Over the years, the small village with around 1,000 households was gradually shrinking. Floods every monsoon and the changing course of the nearby Belan river was taking its toll on the land. This impacted the production of rice, maize and wheat in Dhiwaga. According to the locals, all their land have now turned into a desert.
