As a part of an international observation mission, this scribe had the opportunity to observe the election process of recently concluded presidential election of Sri Lanka. Brief observation of the election is compiled here in order to share their experiences and learn lessons from them.

65% voter turnout in by-polls: EC

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: By-elections conducted on Saturday to elect 52 new representatives at all there levels of government witnessed a 65.43 percent voter turnout, according to the Election Commission.

ROLPA, March 28: Amid acute water shortage in their area, locals of Sunil Smriti Rural Municipality of Rolpa have been questioning their local representatives of the significance of the commitments they made during the local level elections. The representatives, during their election campaign, had promised the locals of solving the problem of water shortage. Many of the representatives had marked the water issue as their major priority. Ten months down the line, the situation has not improved.

DANG, Feb 7: Two voters were absent during voting for the National Assembly members in Dang of Province 5 on Wednesday.

Candidates have been meeting voters at their home, office, in farms - literally anywhere that is convenient for the latter. Along with urban areas, the atmosphere is equally vibrant in the remote villages of the district.
