Three arrested for demanding ransom

CHITWAN, Jan 18: Three persons have been arrested on the charge of demanding Rs 1.5 million in ransom, issuing a life threat to the victim.

Previous mistakes need to be corrected immediately to avoid a further legitimacy crisis in transitional justice mechanisms. The government did not amend legal flaws in the current transitional justice act in line with Supreme Court verdict, thereby ignoring the calls of victim alliances and civil society. This is one major cause of lack of progress in transitional justice (TJ) process.

Tulsipur bomb explosion victim dies

BANKE, Nov 29 : One of the eight police personnel including a Myadi (temporary) police injured in a bomb explosion in Tulsipur, Dang on Tuesday, died today morning, the police said.

I have lent money to the people for genuine reasons. At first, they seem innocent and reasonable in their sayings. They act kindly and promise to repay in few day but as soon as time crosses the limit, and when I call to remind them, they seem unavailable on phone calls and by chance when I manage to find them and ask for it, they give other reason and ask to understand their problems. I wonder who would understand the problem. Well, I have no choice but to believe them and wait for the next deadline to end.

They can be traced to various cultural activities among different communities and sadly, some even lead to both physical and mental abuse. Most of the time, victims of such violence are women especially the ones who are weak, poor and single.

KATHMANDU, July 23: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has stressed need for creating victim friendly laws to ensure justice to those who suffered abuses during insurgency period.
